10 - Praying to Mary with Mother Thérèse

Printer-friendly versionSend by email

In this month of the Rosary, let us pray to Mary with Mother Thérèse.

The first prayer - Invoking Mary - is in the little notebook we have already talked about in recent months, written in pencil.

The second, simply entitled “Prayer”, was “written by our venerated Mother Thérèse in the last year of her life at Fourvière, 1885, to Sr Claire” on paper.

Finally, on another paper, Mother Thérèse had copied a part of the 1883 Practice of the Year given by the Superior General to the Congregation.

Invocations to Mary

Glance of Mary, turn towards me.

Lips of Mary, pray for me.

Hands of Mary, bless me.

Heart of Mary, love Jesus for me.

Feet of Mary, direct me.

Sufferings of Mary, intercede for me.

Prayer

God the Father, through Your Immaculate Daughter, hear us.

God the Son, through Your Immaculate Mother, hear us.

God the Holy Spirit, through Your Immaculate Bride, hear us.

O Mary Immaculate, pray for us.

Saint Joachim and Saint Anne, parents of Mary Immaculate, pray for us.

Saint Joseph, husband of the Immaculate Virgin, pray for us.

Holy angels, servants of the Immaculate Virgin, pray for us.

All the saints of Heaven, servants of Mary Immaculate, pray for us.

In union with all the saints of Purgatory, we say to you, O Mary Immaculate, pray for us.

Amen.

Prayer written by our Venerable Mother Thérèse the last year of her life in Fourvière, 1885, to Sr Claire.

To Our Lady of the Cenacle (condensed extract from the 1883 Practice of the Year*)

To render She homage of our self-will, of our self-love, to honor her perfect conformity to the Divine will, and the Divine love which inflamed her heart for the greater glory of God. Renew this act of homage often to obtain the favor that the title of Our Lady of the Cenacle be given to Mary.

* From the beginning of her mandate as Superior General, Mother Marie Aimée desired that the title Our Lady of the Cenacle be recognized by the Church. A bit after Mother Thérèse’s death she succeeded and even obtained a specific Feast and Liturgy of Mary under this title.
