The charism of our Religious Life is orientated towards the world. It is not based on a desire to flee the world but rather to engage with it differently. A Religious vocation responds to the desire of men and women who feel called to witness to Jesus Christ in a radical way. It is the gift of their lives to God. This vocation existed since the beginnings of Christianity in the form of eremitic, monastic and apostolic religious. At different times during these two thousand years of history many Orders, Congregations, Institutes and Societies of Apostolic Life emerged to respond in diverse ways to the needs of the world and the people.
